Have you ever stepped into a space and immediately felt its magic? That’s exactly what the Women Connect4Good team experienced last month during our visit to Maggie O’Neill’s studio in Washington, D.C. With the constant bombardment of daily stimuli, it’s easy to grow indifferent—even desensitized by the neverending, often over-the-top effects and graphic imagery coming at us from all directions. O’Neill’s studio is different, and the moment you walk in, the world seems to stop, and you are greeted by a stunning array of vibrant colors and a powerful sense of purpose that speaks directly to the soul.
Maggie O’Neill is no ordinary creative. She’s a dynamic visionary, a celebrated artist, and an accomplished entrepreneur with a career spanning more than 25 years. Her contributions have shaped Washington, D.C.’s cultural and design fabric, leaving an indelible mark on the city’s identity.
Her influence reached new heights in 2013 when she co-founded SWATCHROOM, a creative agency that has since brought over 70 immersive spaces to life. From iconic restaurants to boutique hotels and cutting-edge commercial spaces, O’Neill’s leadership has turned SWATCHROOM into a design powerhouse.
O’Neill’s work goes far beyond beautiful design. She is dedicated to creating spaces that engage, connect, and inspire. By blending her expertise in art, design, and activism, she fosters meaningful conversations and a sense of community through every project she undertakes.
Empowering Change Through Art and Advocacy
One of O’Neill’s most impactful initiatives is the Vote For Your Daughter (VFYD) campaign, which she founded in 2022. Through this project, she harnesses the power of art to catalyze social change and inspire civic engagement. VFYD is on a mission to empower American women and girls, champion their rights, and bring critical attention to the challenges they face.
At the heart of VFYD’s efforts is a groundbreaking project to create 51 life-sized fiberglass statues of young girls, affectionately referred to as “Fearless Girls.” Each statue will be uniquely brought to life by one of 51 selected artists, symbolizing the strength, hope, and potential of every girl.
O’Neill shares, “I am endlessly inspired by ‘Fearless Girl’ and wanted to create colorful statues of little girls in different shapes, sizes, and ages to represent the millions of Americans (our daughters) who are losing their rights to their bodily autonomy and critical health care.”
These statues are designed to spark conversations and inspire action nationwide. They stand as powerful reminders of the need to protect and advocate for the rights of women and girls.
How You Can Help
To bring O’Neill’s vision to life, VFYD is actively fundraising. Donations will support the creation of the statues and help transform her meaningful project into a reality. This initiative aims to turn art into action, lifting up voices, challenging perspectives, and building a future where women and girls can truly thrive.
We invite you to join the movement. Together, we can make a difference for generations to come. For more information about VFYD or to make a donation, visit voteforyourdaughter.com.
