From Podcast to Page-Creating a Vision for a Feminist Future

Lauren Schiller and Hadley Dynak recently teamed up to co-author It’s a Good Day to Change the World: Inspiration and Advice for a Feminist Future which features the stories of a number of established icons and introduces a few new ones too. Through “30 stories of feminist change to fire you up without burning you out” Lauren and Hadley highlight key takeaways and point out that although social justice can be a long road, change is possible.

Lauren is an award-winning interviewer and creator of the nationally syndicated podcast and radio show, Inflection Point, which focuses on women rising up, building power, and leading change, where she is joined by Hadley, a creative producer with a knack for storytelling and a strong desire to influence positive change within societal structure. The two women’s paths converged when they met through mutual connections, and recognizing their shared passion for making a difference, they embarked on a mission to create a book that would inspire others to be part of the feminist future they envision.

The roots of the book can be traced back to Lauren’s upbringing, where she was surrounded by strong, pioneering women. Her mother, who was the first in her family to earn a Ph.D., instilled in Lauren the importance of activism, the fight for equality, and the belief that she could achieve anything she set her mind to. This foundation of optimism and empowerment led Lauren to become a radio producer and host.

We All Have the Power to Change the World

At the heart of It’s a Good Day to Change the World lies in the stories, tools, and advice from women who are actively leading change. While Inflection Point provided a platform for these women to share their insights, experiences, and strategies for overcoming obstacles, Lauren and Hadley used these stories to craft a five-step framework for change:

  • Imagine
  • Prepare
  • Create
  • Transform
  • Share.

Their framework is not linear; it’s a dynamic tool that anyone can apply to various aspects of their lives, from work to home and beyond.

The book emphasizes the importance of collaboration and inclusivity. It features a diverse range of women, representing different ages, backgrounds, and causes. From young activists to centenarian advocates, from climate change warriors to cultural organizers, the book showcases the immense power that women from all walks of life wield when they come together for a common goal.

In a world where change is needed more than ever, It’s a Good Day to Change the World offers a guiding light, reminding us all that every day presents an opportunity to create a brighter future. Through the stories and advice of the women featured in their book, Lauren and Hadley show readers how push new ideas forward, the significance of building solidarity, the liberating power of laughter, the importance of valuing your own time, as well as inspire readers to believe in their capacity to make a difference and to contribute to a more equal, just, and joyful world.
