Why do I envy my friend so much?

Think about the real reason for your envy and you will probably find the root lies in your own insecurities. Your friend’s success most likely resulted from her own hard work. If you have set goals that you have not achieved, her success may cut right to your core.

How do I compliment my friend?

You may still feel the twinge of jealousy, but focus instead on what you would like to hear if you were in her position. If you “Fake it ’til you make it,” those positive feelings will gradually overshadow the jealousy.
