About Pat Michell:
Throughout her career as an award-winning journalist, producer and media executive, Pat Mitchell broke new ground for women as the first woman president of PBS and of CNN Productions. Today, she is a co-founder, host, and curator for TEDWomen and co-founder and managing partner of ConnectedWomenLeaders, a cohort of global women leaders across generations and geography who are launching a global women-led campaign for climate justice titled Project Dandelion. She serves on the boards of the Sundance Institute, The Skoll Foundation, Participant Media, The Woodruff Arts Center, and the VDAY movement to end violence; she’s also a member of CARE’s Global Advisory Council and Chair Emerita of the Women’s Media Center which established an annual award in her name. In her memoir, “Becoming a Dangerous Woman: Embracing Risk to Change the World,” Mitchell shares her journey as a frontline advocate for a just, equitable, and sustainable world.
About Mary Robinson:
Mary Robinson, the first woman President of Ireland (1990-1997) and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (1997-2002), is a pioneering advocate for gender equality, climate justice, and human rights. During her presidency, she championed women’s rights, reconciliation, and equality, breaking taboos by making historic visits to Britain and Northern Ireland. As High Commissioner, she integrated human rights into the UN system and boldly addressed global injustices.
A tireless advocate for marginalized communities, Robinson founded Realizing Rights to put human rights at the core of global governance, earning the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Barack Obama in 2009. She co-founded the Council of Women World Leaders, fostering democracy and gender equality, and is a member of the Club of Madrid. Globally recognized for emphasizing the intersectionality of the climate crisis, Robinson continues to inspire leaders to act urgently on issues of justice and sustainability.
