Post Divorce New Years Intentions

post-divorce-newyearsIt’s New Year’s Eve and I was inspired today by my youngest daughter. She is a transformational coach and talks about manifestation and setting your intentions on how and what you want your life to be. She and her life partner and soon to be husband are having a big New Year’s Party to bring in 2013.

She told me she was creating a Manifestation Table as part of the evening’s event. She explained this is to help everyone attending to consider a plan about how they really want to live and be. She explained it is about being present and available and to truly talk about how our lives will look in the coming year. Many of us make the typical resolutions such as lose weight (Dah!!), and getting in good physical shape (bigger Dah!!) and on and on.

We need to ask ourselves: Are we present and truly awake when we make resolutions? Are our intentions a conscious choice to truly transform our lives and live fully present and loving? Are we living in the moment?

What I want to change and why:

I want more joy in my life. My divorce has taken me up and down a slippery slope. Divorce is a lot of things but it is clearly about learning and creating a new life but none-the-less painful and exhausting at times. I have had so much drama I could have produced and been the Leading Star in 10 Broadway Plays. Please enough of that!

I want to have more peace and happiness in my life. Why not? We have to work at anything we really want. Why not do a happiness and feeling peace workout? One-two- three breathe and feel it!! Relaxation is a learned response if you have never felt it before. Chaos does not have to rule the day!! You get to choose. We all have that choice.

I want to stop the drama. Lights, camera, action!! I have had enough emotional discharges to fill all the Great Lakes. It is a good idea to set that intention and work towards finding places, people, and things that are not going to generate damaging emotions. I will do more meditation and more yoga. Breathe and stop holding my breath. Are you doing that right now? Darn it, breathe.

I am going to do things that feel good? I am blessed I have many things I love to do. Sometimes I forget about them and I have to remind myself. “You know you can do what you want!!” My bliss comes from fuzzy, loving creatures like my two adopted pups. They needed homes and love and so did I. We matched up perfectly. I often tell them. “Hey girls (girlie dogs) we are all on the same page. We are brand new!” I really think they get it. They sure seem to.

I also have three beautiful horses and I am transformed when I am with them. I love the smell of the barn, the arena and the great music that plays non-stop. I love to brush them, nuzzle with them and blow in their sweet noses. I have been told by many “horse lovers,” if you blow in their nose they will know who you are. They will bond with you and never forget you. Of course it also helps to bring those handful of carrots, apples and molasses cookies. Ha! Do you have something that once created peace and happiness in your life? Find it again or create something new. That is also a choice.

I will be honest with you I have not arrived at this point in my life since my divorce without a lot of help from family, friends and another wonderful group of women I call my “Psyche Sisters.” My Psyche Sisters are a group of women who helped and supported each other as we struggled to complete our doctorates. We get closer each year and find we just Get Each Other. Love my sisters. I also love my best girl friends who are there no matter what. You know who you are! The power of our sisterhood is unstoppable. I am stronger and better with my sisters.

I have also been smart enough to know “Doctor Do Not Heal Thyself!” I found a sharp, no-nonsense psychologist to help me traverse this new unknown territory. None of us has to go it alone. Reach out. There is someone waiting to lend support and a shoulder to lean on.

Are you ready to wake up and make an intentional plan to live the life you deserve and want. You can have it all. Get going. Joy-happiness-peace and living with zest and remembering who you really are. We all come into this world a bright shining light full of promise and potential to be whatever we can dream. Dreams come true.

My intentions:

  • I will happy and joyful.
  • I will spend time with people who share those same intentions.
  • I will remember who I am and all of these wonderful things about myself:
    • I am strong!
    • I am loveable.
    • I am worthwhile.
    • I forgive myself.
    • I am deserving.
    • I make a difference.

I wish everyone a 2013 with manifestations and intentions that fill your year with all your dreams coming true. I felt many times this past year my divorce crippled me and made me feel less. I will not spend another day, not another moment feeling that way.

Namasté

If any of you are yoga buffs you understand what the word Namasté means. It means “the Divine within me meets the divine within you.” We all come from the Divine and we are all connected. Remember who you are this coming year.

Genshai

Never let anyone make you feel small nor ever make anyone you meet feel small either. This is the meaning of another magical word, “Genshai.” If we all share these intentions we will create a world full of peace, love and joyful lives.

Why not? You are worth it and so much more. Namasté and many blessings in this coming year. Get going all you have to do is set your intentions and manifest the life you want.
