The Way We Were: DIY Paper Dolls

PaperDoll2When cleaning out her late mother’s house, a friend found these treasures from 8th grade. I can picture her and her best friend poring over Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, scrutinizing every detail of the haute couture. Imagine their countless hours bent over colored pencils and scissors, creating this ideal wardrobe for their sylph-like avatar.

Social Life in the 1960s Style

Imagine their conversations about the social life they envisioned, one requiring nearly 100 garments including more than 15 floor-length gowns, a balloon dress, Chanel suit, fur-trimmed coat, bolero jackets, tennis dress, peignoir, and a tutu! All for an 18-inch waist.
Where are they now? Grandmothers shopping at Chico’s like everyone else!
