We Are Here Gatherings Remind People of Larger Context

On Jan 20th, 2025, We Are Here Gatherings took place virtually and in-person across the country. The events, sponsored by Women Connect4Good and Let It Ripple Studio, were created to gain perspective, highlight women’s accomplishments throughout history—even in this last election—and remind us that we are here, still advancing in support of one another.

“So much has shifted since the election, which we were sure would bring us a female president. The truth is that half of voting Americans DID vote to have our first female president and for progress. Reuters reports that 48.3% voted for Harris and 49% for Trump. That’s not a landslide; that’s a divided country,” Tiffany said. “Our goal with these gatherings is to remind people of this 50/50 fact and where we are in the larger context. We Are Here.”

Virtual and in-person hosts showed four of Tiffany’s short films, some updated for this moment and some re-released. Tiffany’s team also shared a short film that allowed participants to hear an excerpt directly from one of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s famous speeches. The hosts also received discussion points and a list of specific follow-up actions for attendees. In light of the devastation in LA from the fires, the gatherings also served as fundraisers for people who lost their homes.

Dr. Nancy, who hosted an event virtually and connected to Women Connect4Good’s in-person gathering via Zoom, felt this was the right time to focus on women’s accomplishments to date and support those to come.

“We will continue to do the good work, work towards equality and representation. When we come together for the right reasons, we create a better world and prove that all things are possible,” Dr. Nancy said. “We’ll go around people who don’t understand that, and we’ll do it together.”

In every single one of the numerous social gatherings held, Tiffany and Dr. Nancy reached their goals. Attendees gained strength from their local communities, found new ways to plug in and create change, and met new people to work with and support. They also collectively lifted up and celebrated women’s accomplishments in this past election and ultimately recognized–even in a divided country—that we are all in this together.
