Who Influences You on Social Media | Amplify Her Voice

Miss RepresentationThe Representation Project (formerly MissRepresentation.org) continues to expose society’s limiting stereotypes that harm all of us: men, women, boys and girls. Most recently, they called attention to the lists of the most influential thinkers. Though women are proclaimed to use social media the most, they were mostly left off the lists.

To find out why, The Project Team reviewed the barriers to being heard online as in other media and found them to be the same: gender and racial bias. It also noted that while the Internet has opened doors for communication, it has also introduced more consistent hate speech. Women with feminists leanings have to overcome the onslaught of vicious and demeaning language meant to silence them, says The Project Team. But while women may be missing from the lists of “influencers,” most of us are reading and being influenced by women every day.

The Representation Project Team calls for action. And the WomenConnect4Good Team wants to amplify their voices and yours.

Let’s create our own list! Who influences you? Who do you respect and listen to? Comment here or on Facebook and Twitter and Tweet the Project #amplifytheirvoice.
