We have been thinking about how we want to show up following the election and have decided to take a simple but powerful approach. On January 20th, 2025 (aka as Inauguration Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, you are invited to join Tiffany Shlain of Let it Ripple and Dr. Nancy of Women Connect4Good and participate in hosting an intimate We Are Here Gathering at your home or office. The event will feature selected short films about this moment in the larger arc of history, discussion points, and specific follow-up actions. You will join other leaders—like yourself—across the country who plan to host these gatherings in their homes.
So much has shifted since the election, which we were sure would bring us a female president. The truth is that half of voting Americans DID vote to have our first female president and for progress. As of today, Reuters reports that 48.3% voted for Harris and 49% voted for Trump. That’s not a landslide; that’s a divided country. Our goal with these gatherings is to remind people of this 50/50 fact, highlight the accomplishments women made in this election, and remind them of where we are in the larger context. We Are Here.
We will provide you with the elements you need to bring together friends and tap into the larger community, as well as access to four of Tiffany’s transformative award-winning films that explore ideas in feminist history, progress, and our interdependence. We will also provide a short film honoring Martin Luther King Jr and a discussion guide for all the films with a list of the actions people can take.
