Driving the Vote for Equality Now

From gathering support for the right to vote in 1916, to calling for equal rights under the Constitution in 2026, the Saxon Golden Flyer has crisscrossed the country for women’s equality. On May 28, 2026, it completed the latest Drive for Equality, with former Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, ERA Coalition board member and founder of ERA NOW, calling the petition drive a success.

From March 1 to May 28, the Golden Flyer traveled more than 10,000 miles – through 25 states – urging people to join the fight. And they did! They signed petitions and signed up to join the Drive for Equality. Most of all, throughout the states, Congresswoman Maloney said she saw surprised faces as people realized that women did not have equal rights, and that far from ancient history, the fight for the ERA is NOW! And equality is within our reach.

In 1916, after Alice Burke and Nell Richardson returned to New York City having traveled 10,700 miles in the original Golden Flyer, it took four more years for women to get the right to vote. We don’t have four years. We have until the midterms in November 2026.

Now that the drive has ended, it’s time for phase two of the campaign – the “Drive the Vote for Equality.” That means that last week’s crossing of the finish line in front of New York City Hall is not the end. It is where we downshift and push to the finish line.

The Golden Flyer II has done the work on the open road. Now the work moves to the swing Congressional districts and key Senate races that will determine whether we have a pro-ERA majority in Washington after November 2026 and an early vote for the ERA in 2027.

The mission is the same — one million petition signatures, leading to a Congressional Joint Resolution affirming the ERA as the 28th Amendment — but the strategy sharpens, focusing on the petition drives in the districts that matter most. ERA Action Teams are trained and ready to mobilize where every vote counts. The pressure is on, which means it is time to get involved and find out how you can help Drive the Vote for Equality!

Remember: We don’t have four years. We have until November.
