Empowering Tomorrow–Equal Voice, Equal Future for All

Bringing people together to work toward the common goal of achieving gender equality is the foundation of Elisa Parker’s role as manager for the ERA Coalition and the Fund for Women’s Equality. The pursuit of making the Equal Rights Amendment the law of the land requires taking a multi-faceted approach to the intricate aspects of gender inequality and exploring the intersections of media and advocacy with organizations nationwide. All things that Elisa is excited to be a part of.

The Equal Rights Amendment, which focuses on equality of rights under the law regardless of sex or gender, has a long and complicated history. With 380 related member organizations, the ERA Coalition  works toward both the ratification of the amendment, and the beliefs, understandings, and truths it represents.

Elisa’s focus is largely on the crucial role tomorrow’s voters play in creating lasting change. From hardcore activists to people new to the concept of women’s empowerment, Elisa promotes mutual support, equality, and gender justice to everyone–forging connections, unifying, and ensuring that every voice is heard.

Wherever Elisa shows up, she speaks up about the importance of standing together and fighting for mutual gains.

“We’re dismantling the patriarchy. So, what does that look like?” She answers her own question by saying it is about… “debunking all the myths that we have as women… competing with each other, comparing ourselves.” She demonstrates how the power of partnership increases the possibilities of a better future exponentially, and underscores that we don’t have to be part of a larger movement to make a difference.

The idiom, “A rising tide lifts all boats” describes a primary focus behind Elisa’s intentions and efforts. She says that for women at the heights of their professions, thinking that there is no room at the top prevents positive results. Elisa encourages women to bring someone else along with them as they rise, and to give back to receive more.
